Al-Makhwa - Al-Majardah - Muhayil Road
Project Description
The project aims to significantly enhance transportation connectivity between Al-Ardiyat Governorate in the Makkah Region and the southern regions of Asir and Al-Baha, spanning across Phases I, II, and III. Its primary objectives are to improve traffic safety, support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and establish key strategic routes that will foster long-term economic development. By facilitating the efficient movement of goods from Makkah and Jeddah Port to Asir, the project is designed to optimize logistics, ensuring smoother truck traffic and boosting the regional supply chain. This vital infrastructure initiative will not only enhance transportation efficiency but also contribute to the economic growth of these regions, improving overall connectivity within the Kingdom. The Project includes:
- Dualization of Al-Mukhwah / Al-Majardah / Mahayil Road (Section within Makkah Region)The project involves the dualization of 8.7 km of road, from kilometer marker 23+000 to 31+700, converting it into a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction, in accordance with the typical cross-section in the design plans. The construction works include:
-
- Construction of two valley bridges (At km 24+870, with a length of 40 meters) &(At km 30+758, with a length of 100 meters)
- Implementation of surface drainage systems, including culverts and protective works, as specified in the design plans.
- Installation of traffic signals, road markings, and intersection signage, as detailed in the design plans.
-
- Construction of a two-way road with two lanes, extending 2.8 km from kilometer marker 34+200 to 37+000, in accordance with the design plans.
- Expansion of the existing road into a dual carriageway over a length of 1.3 km, from kilometer marker 38+000 to 39+300, as per the design plans.
- Expansion of the existing road into a dual carriageway over a length of 44.6 km, from kilometer marker 68+200 to 112+800, in line with the design plans.
- Completion of the required works for the Al-Sail Al-Kabeer Road expansion project, including its connection to the Taif/Riyadh Expressway.
